"There may be some grand, sacrificial, heroic answer, but the best
answers I know are almost trivial. Environmental problems are caused by billions of small,
unthinking actions. They'll be cured by billions of small, sensible actions, simple
substitutions of environmentally conscious habits for thoughtless and wasteful ones."

GREENSTAR! Family Weekend at Sea To Sky — An opportunity for families to learn together in a playful community that leaves everybody more appreciative of our beautiful home and more empowered to act in ways that make for a better world. Details here
The Greenstar! Initiative from Sea to Sky is a call to action. The five pointed star symbolizes five very significant relationships we have with our world. These are: the garbage we create, the water we use, the toxins we produce, the food we consume and the greenhouse gases we release.
In large measure these relationships represent the amount of living planet we convert to non-living energy and materials in order to satisfy our needs and wants. This load we place on nature is called our ecological footprint. Shrinking this has become, in the 21st century, both a moral and biophysical imperative.
An individual, business, local government, school, faith community, or household becomes a Greenstar! when they commit long term to changing habits in all five target areas. As a consequence, their relationship with the world changes for the better.
With each action undertaken their impact on nature's finite goods and services is lessened. Sharing what one is doing with others and vice versa can act as inspiration for further actions. With each new round of commitments, one becomes more responsible, more resilient, and more connected to the needs of our living world.
Being a Greenstar! makes each of us more citizens than consumers. We grow to see our leadership and sense of responsibility as something that is revealed in how we live our lives.
